FANTASTIC CAVERNS TOUR AND PRIMA'S MEXICAN DINNER

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21

FANTASTIC CAVERNS TOUR

VERY COOL, IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE!

Well, there are now 20 members of our Club who can say, "We've been there, done that!  But why in the world did we wait so long?"  It turned out to be a quite cool, damp day, but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits (well, maybe Rick's, because the car got rained on) but we pushed on and 20 of us did the full cave tour and were very impressed!  The young man who was our tour guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions.

Fantastic Caverns – America’s Ride-Through Cave – is an all-weather attraction.  The temperature inside the cave hovers at a comfortable 60 degrees…warm in the winter and cool in the summer.  We rode through the cave in a Jeep-drawn tram for the 55-minute tour.  Along the roomy, brightly lit passageways, we saw thousands of speleothems – cave formations that include stalactites and stalagmites, tiny soda straws, cave pearls, massive columns and flowstones, each one like no other, and all created by water a drop at a time.

Afterwards we cruised down to Prima's Mexican Cafe, in Chesterfield Village, where we met 8 more Club members and had a leisurely dinner with lots of time to visit, which is really the best part of any Club event.   We were back in our old meeting room (where many previous McGuffy patrons have heard us scream and holler on Bunco nights!).

A little birdie told us that it was E R.'s birthday, so after dinner we and the Prima's staff wished him a very loud

Happy Birthday with lots of clapping and singing.

Happy Birthday, again, E.R. !!

Cindy H. said, "The two empty chairs at dinner were for Lyle & Anny!!"

Great appreciation to Cindy H for all her marvelous pictures!
